Be still.

Be still and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.
Exodus 14:14

A few days ago my aunt sent me a verse that is spoken often in adoption circles:   Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27)

For the very first time "in their distress" stands out to me.  I have read that verse a million times and these three words have never seemed important to me.  And yet this time I feel like I am seeing them on a billboard sign.  In their distress, in their distress, in their distress....YES they are!!!!!!

These babies I am going to see are in distress and they need someone to fight for them.  It IS a fight.  A fight in the heavenly realms for sure.  And the Lord is the one who will fight.  I need only to be still.
